EXPERIENCE Over twenty years
working in the higher education environment across most of the facility planning
and management area. Led the planning,
design, and construction of facilities ranging from a small, free-standing
theater to a large engineering research building with a clean room and other
high-technology features. Organized and
led building maintenance activities at large public universities. Developed campus master plan based on
academic plan. Developed contracts for outsourcing agreements ranging from
building maintenance to delivery order contracts for small construction
projects. Managed construction projects
groups that oversaw major capital work totaling over $20 million per year
and/or performed minor renovation work.
Developed reporting models to clearly explain the condition of
facilities, expenditures, and resultant changes. Familiar with both unionized and
non-unionized environments. Co-editor of
APPA’s Maintenance
Staffing Guidelines; editor of the bi-monthly book review column. Contributing author, Managing the Facilities Portfolio, second edition.
